This post is to help people that have trouble with playing Haxball. Either by having lots of lags, or other forms of problems with the gameplay. Haxball is sensitive to everything and even installing a new program on your computer can completely ruin your Haxball experience. Any new tips to help you out will be added here, so you can enjoy the game as much as possible. Post if you need help with anything.
Recommended browsers for playing Haxball:
Recommended programs:
- The first and most important thing to do when going to play Haxball is turn off all other unnecessary programs (especially the ones that use your internet connections).
- Sometimes the lags are not caused by your computer, but by other people in your household. If they watch YouTube, Netflix, download or streams online, you might have a hard time playing, because they use all of the internet connection.
- A wireless connection is generally not a good way to play Haxball, as it has a chance to be unstable. Try to have a more steady connection by using wired connection for example. If you use wireless, be sure to disconnect all devices from the Wi-Fi to assure to get the lowest ping.
- If you have a very cheap modem/router with your internet connection, you might consider replacing this. This might be the cause of some lag problems.
- It might seem that Haxball is a simple browser game but it does use up your computer hardware. Make sure that your graphics card driver is updated to the latest version. If you are having a hard time playing still, maybe try the game without hardware acceleration. Changing fps from 60 to 30 can also help sometimes.
- Next we can check the load on your internet connection. Press “windows flag” + “r” and type in “cmd“. A black screen will come up. Type in “netstat“. There you will see all the connections. If you have more than 15/20 established connections, it is very possible you have some spyware or other type of virus and your computer should get cleaned.
- Another way to reduce connection problem is releasing and renewing the connection. Once again press “windows flag” + “r” and type in “cmd“. Type in “ipconfig /release” (this will turn off your connection) and then type in “ipconfig /renew“ (turns it back on). Also go ahead and type in “ipconfig /flushdns” to clean your DNS cache.
